YouTube Liked Videos Not Showing All: Causes and Fixes
People search this when the Liked videos playlist looks shorter than their memory—or shorter than the playlist count badge. Causes range from YouTube’s official 5,000 display cap to the wrong Google account, app or browser cache glitches, Library filters, and deleted or private videos. This guide is a troubleshooting checklist, then a path to Google My Activity or Takeout plus LikesR when the likes may still exist in Google’s activity data.
1. Symptom triage
Match what you see to a likely cause before changing settings or exporting files. Use the questions below to jump to the right section.
- Playlist count badge is much higher than the rows that load (for example 2,000+ claimed but only ~200 appear) → start with Cause C (cache / loading).
- The list stops near 5,000 and newer likes push older ones off → Cause A (official display cap).
- Desktop and the mobile app disagree, or Incognito looks different → Cause C.
- You recently switched profiles, work accounts, or a Brand Account → Cause B.
- Titles show as unavailable, or videos you know were removed → Cause D.
- You mainly liked Shorts (or mainly long-form) and only scroll one surface → Cause E.
2. Cause A — Official 5,000 display cap
YouTube Help states that a maximum of 5,000 videos can be displayed in the Liked videos playlist (YouTube Help). Ordinary playlists share the same display maximum (playlists Help). The playlist UI is newest-first, so older likes fall off the visible list as you keep liking.
That wording is about display, not a documented promise that older likes are erased. Anecdotal community reports (not official policy) say unliking some recent videos can make older likes reappear in the playlist—treat that as optional context, not a recommended first fix.
For the full FAQ on the cap, My Activity, and Takeout paths, read YouTube liked videos 5,000 limit instead of repeating that deep dive here.
3. Cause B — Wrong Google / YouTube account
Likes live on the Google account (or Brand Account) that performed them. If you are signed into a secondary profile, a work account, or a Brand Account while your likes sit on another identity, the Liked videos playlist looks empty or thin compared with what you remember.
Fix: open YouTube’s account picker (or Google account switcher), confirm the email matches the one you used when liking, and re-check Library → Liked videos. Brand Accounts can make this especially easy to miss.
LikesR cannot merge accounts. Export each Google Takeout separately for the account you care about, then open that archive in the viewer.
4. Cause C — App / browser cache and loading bugs
Community reports describe playlists that claim thousands of items but only load a few hundred rows (for example Reddit discussions of ~200 visible of 2,000+). That pattern is under the 5,000 display cap, so it is not the official limit—it looks like a client loading or cache issue.
Try another browser or Incognito/Private mode, compare the mobile app with desktop, disable extensions that rewrite YouTube pages, clear YouTube site data or the app cache, then sign out and back in. Do not mass-unlike videos as a first step.
If the list is still broken well under 5,000 across devices after those checks, report it to YouTube as a bug rather than assuming likes were deleted.
5. Cause D — Deleted, private, or unavailable videos
Videos that were removed by the uploader or set to private may disappear from the playlist or show as unavailable. That can make the list feel incomplete even when your like count history is intact.
Google My Activity may still list a past “Liked …” event (including the title text) even when the watch page is gone. A viewer cannot restore the video file itself—only the activity record, if Google still has it.
Be honest about expectations: unavailable media is separate from “likes missing from Google’s records.” LikesR can surface IDs and titles present in your export; it cannot undelete YouTube videos.
6. Cause E — Library filters and Shorts mix
Library → Liked videos and the in-player playlist panel can feel different depending on how far you scroll and which client you use. Shorts liked with the Heart can also feel “missing” if you only browse long-form Liked videos—or the reverse.
Keep this check short: confirm you are looking at Liked videos (not Watch later or another playlist), try both desktop and the app, and note whether Shorts or long-form are the ones you expected. Avoid inventing filter names that are not on your screen.
7. When LikesR helps
LikesR helps when like events may still exist in Google activity data but the playlist UI stops early—because of the 5,000 display cap, a loading bug, or because you need search and sort beyond what the playlist offers.
Quick path: (a) open Google My Activity → YouTube likes and dislikes for a Ctrl+F / ⌘F check; (b) create a Google Takeout with YouTube playlists plus My Activity → YouTube; (c) drop the archive on the LikesR homepage to search, filter beyond the newest 5,000, sort oldest first, and export CSV, JSON, offline HTML, or bookmarks.
Parsing stays in your browser—no Google OAuth and no upload to LikesR servers. Optional oEmbed metadata lookups are separate and require consent. For year/search workflows, see find old liked videos and search liked videos.
- Confirm likes in My Activity if you only need one title.
- Export Takeout (playlists + My Activity YouTube) and download every part.
- Open the archive in LikesR; search, filter beyond newest 5,000, then export if needed.
8. When LikesR does not help
LikesR only shows records present in the files you open. It cannot recover likes that are missing from both My Activity and Takeout, that were never recorded (for example when relevant history was off), or that belong to a different Google account than the one you exported.
It will not re-like videos on YouTube, restore deleted likes, undelete purged activity, or make private or removed videos watchable again. If you expect a tool to push likes back onto another account’s playlist, that is outside what a local Takeout viewer can do—see the FAQ for the same honesty on the product side.
FAQ
Why are my YouTube liked videos not showing all?
Most commonly, YouTube’s Liked videos playlist displays at most 5,000 videos (YouTube Help). Other causes include the wrong Google or Brand Account, app or browser cache and loading bugs, and deleted or private videos. Use the checklist above to match your symptom, then try My Activity or Takeout if likes may still exist in Google’s activity data.
Does YouTube delete likes after 5,000?
Official docs describe a display maximum, not deletion. Anecdotal reports say older likes can reappear in the playlist after you unlike recent videos—that is not an official guarantee. For the full FAQ on the cap, see the 5,000-limit guide.
My playlist says 2,000+ but only ~200 load — is that the 5k limit?
No. Under 5,000, that pattern matches a UI or loading issue reported in community threads, not the official display cap. Try another browser or device, clear cache, disable extensions, and report it to YouTube if it persists across clients.
How do I see likes that disappeared from the playlist?
Check Google My Activity → YouTube likes and dislikes, or export with Google Takeout and open the archive in a local viewer such as LikesR. See the find-old and Takeout guides for step-by-step paths.
Can LikesR restore deleted liked videos?
No. LikesR only shows records present in your export. It does not re-like videos on YouTube or undelete Google activity.
Do I need to sign in to LikesR with Google?
No. LikesR does not use Google login or OAuth and does not upload your files. Parsing stays in the browser. Optional oEmbed metadata lookups are consent-gated and separate from import.
